We have a simple question for you: Are you ready?

Are you ready to join Special Olympics athletes from your community and around the world in solidarity? Are you ready to spread the spirit of inclusion far and wide? Are you ready for the annual Global Week of Inclusion – because it’s here!

All this week, we’re spotlighting the moments, stories, and programs that represent what inclusion is really all about: mutual respect, building teams and relationships, and the power of belonging. We’re proud to lead the global inclusion movement and to create opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities (ID), on and off the field.

There is SO much you can do to take part in the Global Week of Inclusion starting right now! Find out all the ways to get involved with Special Olympics →

Kayte B. from Special Olympics Minnesota, who is pictured above, is no stranger to powering inclusion in a BIG way. This extraordinary athlete – who has been involved with Special Olympics for almost 30 years! – is helping lead the charge to make research and innovation more inclusive for people with ID, especially when it comes to health.

Kayte’s journey began when she took a university course and learned how to use research as a tool for advocacy. Then she became a Project ALL STAR participant, which means she underwent a comprehensive fitness assessment and started digging into what actually impacts athlete health, from balance and strength to lack of local health resources.

Now, Kayte is a one-athlete powerhouse who’s turning research and advocacy into ACTION! She’s helping to shape studies, contribute to articles, and make sure that people with ID are at the table when building the future of inclusive, thoughtful, and compassionate health care for people with ID.

The Global Week of Inclusion is the perfect time this summer to learn more about athletes, coaches, volunteers, and supporters who are determined to make our world more accepting and accessible for ALL. Team up with Special Olympics this week:
