John,
Netroots Nation in New Orleans kicks off in a little more than 3 weeks – but we've got some virtual content starting tomorrow. Anyone with a virtual or in person ticket can access tomorrow's sessions. Here's what's on tap:
Messaging Training: Bringing Latinos into Your Coalition
Time: 3 p.m. ET
This training will equip you with a research-backed approach to speaking with Latino audiences in a way that motivates, persuades, and mobilizes. Participants will learn what works (and what doesn’t) when talking to Latinos, how to break down common messaging mistakes, and why traditional outreach falls short.
How to Calm Down Fast When Politics Stresses You Out
Time: 6 p.m. ET
In an era of rising authoritarianism, staying calm is not just self-care – it’s a political strategy. When we’re in fight-or-flight mode, we can’t think clearly or act effectively. This workshop, led by a political psychiatrist, teaches three science-backed techniques to quickly restore calm so you can stay powerful in turbulent times. You'll learn deep breathing, grounding, and cognitive redirection — simple exercises you can use anytime, anywhere to regain control and respond strategically.
The ACORN Legacy: Lessons from 40 Years of Building People Power
Time: 6 p.m. ET
Founded in 1970, The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) grew to be the largest poor and low-income people-led community organization in the country until it was forced to shut down in 2010 following major internal tensions and attacks from the right. This session will explore important lessons learned from this project, including how ACORN built a multi-racial, member-led national organization, and how to respond to threats from the right today.
Follow this link to download the app for your mobile device or access the content via a computer. You will use your registration email address (the one receiving this email) to log in.
If you aren't able to join live tomorrow, these sessions will be recorded as well.
In addition, for those joining us in New Orleans, we wanted to make sure you know about these pre-conference offerings outside of our standard programing (Note: You must RSVP via the links below for these events).
Hope to see you virtually tomorrow!
