(Port Orchard, WA) - We want to share an important schedule update for the SR 104 Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) project in Kingston. Construction was originally set to begin this summer but is now scheduled to start in mid-September 2025.
This is a Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) project, with Kitsap County managing construction. Once installed and operational, WSDOT and Washington State Ferries will oversee system operations. The project will improve traffic flow and ferry terminal access by installing new signal infrastructure and an advanced ticket dispensing system.
The updated schedule is due to procurement and testing requirements for key system components, which have taken longer than anticipated. In coordination with project partners, it was determined that shifting construction to the fall would minimize impacts during the busy summer ferry season and allow for a more efficient, consolidated work period.
We appreciate your patience as we support WSDOT in delivering this important transportation improvement. For additional details, visit the project page:kcowa.us/ATMS
