“Historic places are like a library for a community. They are a repository for all of the stories and memories, differences and commonalities that bind us together. However, unlike the books in a library, each historic building is one of a kind.”
– Sheila I., Member since 2006
Dear Friend,
Our nation’s past is rich with stories of triumph over adversity, and heroes arising from overwhelming or impossible circumstances. These stories give us perspective and hope in difficult times.
We know about these stories—all of these stories—in large part because of the work of historic preservation. Without an unwavering commitment to save the places where our full, shared American history happened, we’d be adrift without a compass to guide us.
Today, during our fiscal year-end campaign this June, the National Trust is looking ahead to our preservation priorities for the coming year. And we need your help to continue protecting the places and stories that matter to all of us.
Beyond coping with the serious loss of revenue created by closures across the National Trust Historic Sites this spring, we are urgently raising $30,000 this month to advance our proactive work for the remainder of the year.
Can you help us begin our new fiscal year strong by joining the National Trust with a tax-deductible gift today?
I’m grateful to share that generous partners at the Robert W. Wilson Charitable Trust have offered to match $5 for every $10 you give—elevating gifts of $50 to $75 in impact, gifts of $100 to $150 in impact, and gifts of $500 to $750 in impact.
Our pressing preservation priorities simply cannot wait. Your support during our fiscal year-end campaign will enable us to address severe flooding and structural damage at the National Mall Tidal Basin…protect the Ashley River Historic District from development and other proposed damage to its extraordinary physical integrity…restore the Brick House, the last unrestored structure on the site of the Glass House, and embark upon a major campaign to protect historic downtown districts and small businesses nationwide at serious risk because of COVID-19 related closures and disruptions. Your help today ensures that this and other vital work moves forward.
As our work carries on in the unprecedented circumstances ahead, please consider becoming a member of the National Trust to help us reach our goal of raising $30,000 and begin a new fiscal year poised to address our pressing preservation priorities.
Once again, our generous friends at the Robert W. Wilson Charitable Trust will increase the value of every dollar by matching your gift today.
Thank you, as always, for your commitment to the ongoing mission of the National Trust.
With deep appreciation,
