Hi John,
Can you believe that last year UK billionaires amassed a further £35 million every day, on top of the wealth they already have? It’s a mind-blowing amount, which no individual needs. What stings the most is that this is while the NHS is under enormous strain, energy bills keep rising, vital welfare is being cut, and people are facing climate-related disasters globally.
Around the country people have had enough. A movement is amassing and demanding our government acts decisively to tackle climate change and inequality together. We’re pushing for a tax on the super-rich and on the fossil fuel companies responsible for the climate crisis. I’m writing today to ask if you could join us in demanding change by donating £5?
Yes, I'll donate
Our society and the planet we all depend on are struggling. But this didn’t just happen by chance. It’s the result of our broken economic system. Billionaires muscling into politics to boost their profits, and decision-makers pushing policies that benefit the super-rich and big business, giving fossil fuel companies free reign to profiteer.
It can’t go on. We urgently need change. That’s why we’re part of the new, mass alliance called ‘Make Them Pay’ fighting for taxes on the super-rich, protections for workers, and making polluters pay.

It’s time those responsible for the climate crisis pay up

The wave of far-right voices denying the climate crisis is only getting louder now Trump is back in the White House and backing big oil and gas. Here in the UK, we’re seeing Nigel Farage and Reform cynically exploiting people’s reasonable concerns about who will pay for climate action for their own political gain.

Our government has been pandering to this kind of populism, burying its head in the sand about climate funding, trying to cut welfare and targeting some of the most vulnerable in society, rather than taxing the super-rich.

That’s why it’s urgent people like you and me speak out now and are united in calling for a fair society and just transition. We need a bold new agenda that rebuilds society for the people who keep it running, not the rich and powerful. Can you donate today to push our government to act?

Half the world’s emissions come from the richest 10% of people. But this isn’t only a problem relating to the climate crisis. It’s part of a system that protects the super-rich at the top and big business that will turn a profit no matter the cost to ordinary people and the environment we all depend on. The only way to fight back against the rise of the far-right and maintain support for climate action is with an agenda which targets the rich and powerful.

Be part of Make Them Pay

Now is the time to stand together and call on our government to act. We’re working with activists, trade unions and major NGOs to build an ambitious civil society alliance that represents millions of people across the UK and globally. Make Them Pay is supported by major figures in the climate and workers’ movements, including PCS union, Greenpeace, and Climate Justice Coalition, as well as Global Justice Now.

By donating today you can be part of this united movement fighting for a just green transition and to put excess wealth back into our struggling public services. Ahead of the COP30 climate summit this November, we’re stepping up our movement-building and public outreach.

Your donation would help fund a major, eye-catching demonstration in London in September, strengthening the message to Make Them Pay. With your backing, we’ll also be able to get more of the public behind the fight, taking action and raising awareness. You’d also be helping to build strong cross-party support in Parliament and get attention for our demands in the media.

The more people donate, the more pressure we can create on the government to do the right thing.

Thank you for all you do for our campaigns.
