John,
Let’s set the record straight.
It is already illegal for non-U.S. citizens to vote in federal or state elections. Doing so can result in prison, fines, and even deportation.
So why did President Trump issue an executive order trying to force a federal citizenship requirement onto voter registration forms?
Because this isn’t primarily about security, it’s about making it unnecessarily harder for eligible Americans to vote.
That’s why Minnesota joined a multi-state lawsuit to stop this order. And a judge ruled in our favor.
But we can’t rest. The attacks on voting rights are ongoing, and we need every resource to fight back.
We need another 75 people to join us today to ensure we can fight back. Can you please donate $10 or more to help us stand up for the truth and protect our democracy?

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: the best way to protect elections is to make them secure and accessible.
We’ve done that in Minnesota, and I’m going to keep doing everything in my power to make sure every eligible voter has the freedom to cast their ballot.
Please join me in standing up. Chip in $5 or more today →
Thank you,
Steve
