Team,

On Thursday in a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that President Donald Trump and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton broke the law by rescinding the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program.

700,000 young Dreamers who came to this country as young children in the care of their parents — including more than 200,000 right here in Texas — can breathe a temporary sigh of relief from the fear of being deported back to countries they barely know.

This massive victory was thanks to a young, vibrant, immigrant-led movement that pushed those in positions of power to recognize the basic rights every human being deserves. Now, it's time for the Senate to do the same.

Dreamers are Americans. And America is their home. Call on the Senate to pass the American Dream and Promise Act to make them citizens now.

The Supreme Court's decision on DACA is not a permanent solution.

Republicans are already looking for other ways to rescind the program. It's clear that Dreamers need a pathway to permanent legal status, and the American Dream and Promise Act would achieve this.

There's just one problem: The House already passed this bill last year. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans must agree to pass the Dream and Promise Act before it’s too late. That's why we're asking:

Will you add your name to our petition calling on the Senate to pass the Dream and Promise Act now? We can’t let up on this fight: [link removed]

Immigrants are the source of this country's strength and our success.

It is long past time to re-establish our reputation as a country that welcomes the stranger and embraces our shared humanity. We must continue standing up to Roger Williams, Ken Paxton, Donald Trump, or anyone else who uses Dreamers as a political bargaining chip for votes.

Thank you for taking action,

Team Julie
