On this day in 1913, visionary Sigmund Livingston and a group of fearless leaders came together to create what would become the leading anti-hate organization in the world. Against a backdrop of unchecked antisemitism, they understood that the fight against one form of prejudice could not succeed without battling prejudice in all forms.
Today, ADL’s commitment to protecting and defending the Jewish people and all marginalized groups remains as strong as ever. And while we’ve come so far, there’s much work to be done.
