Hello, I am Tara Lynn Gray and I testified in support of Schools & Communities First before our state Assembly. Why? As President and CEO of the Fresno Metro Black Chamber of Commerce, I see how the business community and communities of color don't get a level playing field on which to compete.

A small group of California's wealthiest investors and largest land-owning corporations keep exploiting a tax loophole to avoid paying their fair share costing our students and communities $12 billion a year. It's time we change that.

Join me in fighting for a California where everyone -- students, small business owners, I mean EVERYONE -- has a fair shot at success! -- DONATE NOW >>

In Fresno, decades of disinvestment in Black communities and other communities of color have left our schools, community colleges, and public health workers (just to name three critical services) without the resources necessary to build a workforce ready for the 21st-century economy.

That's why I was proud to testify before state legislators in support of Schools & Communities First. NOW is the time to close corporate tax loopholes so we can level the playing field for small businesses and invest in communities that have been left behind.

By contrast, what I heard from opponents of Schools & Communities First were lies. Lies meant to distract people from the fact that the corporate tax loopholes they're exploiting are costing our students and communities $12 billion a year in funding for schools and vital services.

I'm not worried about these lies because the facts are on our side. The truth is that if we pass Schools & Communities First the vast majority of California small businesses will either pay no increase or will receive a tax cut.

The truth is if we pass the initiative, we'll begin correcting decades of underinvestment in communities of color. All while protecting homeowners, renters, small businesses, and agricultural properties from any tax increase.

Schools & Communities First will close corporate tax loopholes and help level the playing field for all small businesses -- Will you donate today to join me in supporting this campaign?

The Schools & Communities First initiative reclaims $12 billion every year for California’s schools and local communities by closing commercial property tax loopholes benefiting a fraction of corporations and wealthy investors.
