Dear Friends,
I am excited to share the latest news from Congress and the work I am doing in Washington, D.C., on behalf of the 34th Congressional District of Texas.
Warm regards,

Congressman Vicente Gonzalez
Fighting for our American Workforce
On June 19, 2025, I sent a letter to President Trump urging him to issue an executive order to protect American businesses by ensuring their workforce can continue to live and work without fear of deportations. This comes as the administration’s mass deportation agenda has disproportionately hurt many businesses, particularly the agriculture, construction, and hospitality sectors.
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act is Broken and Bad for South Texas
This bill was nothing but One Big Betrayal. It went back on our promise to senior citizens and guts lifeline programs for tens of thousands of South Texans.
Fiscally irresponsible and cruel, President Trump’s ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ will force children to go hungry, put Medicare and Meals on Wheels on the chopping block, and drive our nation and our students deeper into debt (according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office and the U.S. Department of Agriculture).

Fighting for Our Fallen Hero Angelina Resendiz
I am honored to be working with the family of Brownsville’s own Seaman Angelina Resendiz. Seaman Resendiz was taken from us far too soon and I will do everything in my power to ensure her loved ones get the accountability and justice they deserve.
Questioned Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell
As your Congressman, it is my duty to fight for your needs in Washington. Small businesses across South Texas have told me the deportation of migrant workers is shuttering operations and hurting our economy. Last week, I raised this issue with Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, noting these workers contribute over $1.1 trillion to our Gross Domestic Product (GDP). As I told Chair Powell, removing this workforce would be detrimental to our local and national economy. Rest assured that I will continue fighting for our small businesses and the hardworking families in South Texas.
