Each year, the week following International Nonbinary People’s Day (July 14) is recognized as Nonbinary Awareness Week – a time to shine light on the experiences, resilience, and rights of nonbinary people in Canada and around the world.
This Nonbinary Awareness Week, we ask everyone – allies and community members alike, to take some time to reflect, learn more about the issues that nonbinary people face, and to raise your voice against injustice towards nonbinary people in all its forms.
Together, we can build a more informed, and inclusive Canada - where nonbinary people are not just seen, but celebrated.
Explore our Nonbinary Awareness Week 2025 webpage where you’ll find a range of resources, research, and tools designed to support nonbinary communities and educate allies.

An Historic Win in Alberta Regarding Bill 26 on Gender Affirming Care Access for Young People < [link removed] >
On June 27, the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta granted the injunction request of Egale Canada, Skipping Stone and five individual youth, blocking the Government of Alberta’s denial of gender-affirming care for gender diverse young people in the province from coming into effect.
On the basis of expert evidence, the Court concluded that Bill 26 would cause irreparable harm to gender diverse young people in Alberta.
This is an historic win, affirming that young people in Alberta and across Canada deserve to live authentically in safety and freedom.

Did you know Canada has a Pride Season - not just a month? < [link removed] >
From June through September, communities across the country are keeping the celebrations going - and so are we! Pride Season is a time for joy, visibility, and action.
That’s why Egale Canada is spotlighting our Hate Isn’t History campaign - because the fight for 2SLGBTQI rights is far from over.
Harassed for simply being different. Assaulted for entering public spaces. Targeted solely because of their identity.
These aren’t stories from the past. They’re the lived realities of many 2SLGBTQI people today. Hate is rising, and it's time to act.
