John, the Trump administration banned my book Our Time Is Now from the U.S. Naval Academy Library — but just weeks later, they walked back their decision.

Our outrage made them take a step back, but this is just the first stone thrown in the fight for our right to read.

When a book about voting rights is seen as a threat, we should all be paying attention. The freedom to learn is on the line.

Those who hold our nation's power actually believed my book about democracy was a threat to their ability to destroy it.

Trump wants to remove books about race, gender, inequality, and the cost of housing from shelves.

He wants to ban books that are memoirs, written by journalists, or based on scientific research.

Anything that makes people think critically is the enemy.

I know why Trump is threatened by DEI and any books that fall under that umbrella.

DEI represents the progress and opportunity we’ve achieved as a country — and continue to strive for. DEI encompasses a woman’s right to choose, disability rights, labor rights, and protections for those in the minority.

They don’t want to ban books to protect young minds — they want to ban books to protect themselves from being held accountable.

Together, we can end these book bans and stop Trump’s purely sinister attacks on DEI and democracy. But the only way we win is together.
