“But the Lord was with Joseph and extended kindness to him. He granted him favor with the prison warden…The warden did not bother with anything under Joseph’s authority, because the Lord was with him, and the Lord made everything that he did successful.”

Genesis 39:21-23

Friend,

Reading Joseph’s story in the book of Genesis can be a bit conflicting. We’re reminded that God was with Joseph, but we also may question why God allowed Joseph to suffer like he did. Sold into slavery by his own brothers and then put into prison after being falsely accused - it’s easy to focus on these hardships and wonder where God is in this. But as the story unfolds, we’re encouraged by God’s faithfulness and His greater plan.

We don’t always see it in the moment, but He has it all worked out already. Even when it didn’t seem like it, God was with Joseph. He had a plan and He was leading Joseph to where he needed to be. It likely wasn’t where Joseph wanted or ever planned to be, but it’s where God wanted him to be.

It’s the same for our lives. We might feel like we’re not where we should be or we question how God could allow us to be where we are, but no matter what, He is with us.

He is faithful and His plan will always be greater. Don’t get so caught up in the temporary pain that you forget the eternal glory that comes from trusting God right now.

He sees you, He loves you, and He has good plans for you. Thank You Jesus!
