Hi John,

Unlike many in Congress, I’m not a career politician. And while I’m new to the “swamp” in Washington, I know betrayal when I see it.

At a recent CNN town hall I joined, one of my Republican colleagues stood in front of the American people and promised he’d never vote to cut Medicaid.

Then he voted to gut it by billions.

I know what it’s like to count on Medicaid. I’m the son of refugees, and it helped my family stay afloat. Without that support, I would likely not be serving in Congress today.

So, when someone stands on stage and makes a promise to the millions of people who depend on these programs, then breaks that promise when it’s politically convenient, I take that personally.

Time and again, Republicans say one thing and do another. It isn’t right, but without the House majority it’s nearly impossible to hold this extremist machine accountable.

John, this is one of the most competitive races in the entire country. I flipped this seat by a handful of votes, and it’s made me a top target. Will you chip in $5 between my campaign and Democratic Values to show your support?

Let’s hold the line and make sure the folks who talk a big game finally face some accountability.
