Just look at Trump’s new attempt to force an even more extreme gerrymander in Texas, which is a brazen effort to crush the opposition of people who might vote to put a check on MAGA Republicans’ extreme agenda in 2026.
That’s because at its core, gerrymandering is a way for people already in power to shut out anyone who disagrees with them. If electoral maps don’t truly represent everyone, those in power can just ignore the people who don’t agree with them.
