John,
Congress has passed the Big Brutal Bill and Donald Trump has signed it into law.
Make no mistake, this bill is catastrophic for low-and middle-income communities. It will slash Medicaid by $1 trillion, deprive millions of people of SNAP benefits, deny millions of the lowest-income children the full Child Tax Credit (while taking the CTC away from 2.6 million American citizen kids), and eliminate special tax incentives for green energy—costing millions of jobs.1
All of this is being done in order to make tax cuts for the rich bigger and permanent and power Trump’s mass immigrant detention and removal machine.
This bill is an abomination and Congress needs to hear from you. Send a message of thanks to members of Congress who voted against this monstrosity of a bill, or register your displeasure with members of Congress who voted for it.

This bill is deadly.
According to researchers from Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania, $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts—the largest in the program’s history—will result in the preventable deaths of 51,000 people per year. Those deaths include 18,200 people who are eligible for both Medicaid and Medicare, 20,000 people who will lose health care coverage due to the elimination of the premium tax credit for the ACA, and 13,000 deaths due to staffing cuts at nursing homes.2
At a time when so many are struggling to afford the basic costs of living including groceries, new data from the Urban Institute shows that 5.3 million families will lose $25 or more per month in SNAP benefits, with the average such family losing $146 a month in help paying for food. Sixty-two percent of the families experiencing these very large SNAP losses include children.3
The politicians who voted for this bill have no problem putting tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy above the lives of tens of thousands of people—most of whom are aging or disabled. It’s unconscionable and we must hold them accountable.
Congress needs to know this is NOT acceptable, and that their constituents are paying attention. Send a message to the members of Congress who voted against this bill, thanking them for standing up for vulnerable people, and send a message to the members who voted for this disastrous bill admonishing them for their vote.
They need to know we are paying attention. Thank you for holding your senators and rep accountable,
