Hi there, 

Today, I wanted to wish you and your family a happy Independence Day. July 4 is about honoring our country’s founding and reflecting on the freedoms we hold dear. 

While today is – and should be – a celebration, news out of Washington has cast a shadow on Independence Day this year. Today, Trump signed his Big Ugly Betrayal into law. This bill takes health care away from kids, seniors, and veterans to fund a tax cut for the wealthiest 0.1% It’s a fundamentally un-American bill. 

But America has faced dark moments before and persevered through them. This bill should not stop us from celebrating our country. Instead, we should reclaim the flag and reclaim our patriotism as we work harder than ever before to ensure America lives up to her founding values. 

Whether you’re traveling, seeing friends and family, or just relaxing, I hope you have a fulfilling Independence Day. Tomorrow, the fight to push our country towards its highest ideals will continue.
