John,
Trump is signing the Big Ugly Bill over this Fourth of July weekend because nothing says patriotism like stripping healthcare and food assistance from tens of millions of people to help fund tax cuts for the rich.
Not a single thing about this bill is patriotic. It slashes over $1 trillion from Medicaid, eliminates enhanced ACA subsidies, and guts food assistance for low-income families, all to extend and expand the Trump tax breaks for the wealthy.[1]
Analysts and public health experts warn that it will result in at least 51,000 preventable deaths every year.[2]
That’s the legacy Trump wants to stamp onto this country’s birthday: a law that will push people off life-saving medications, force seniors out of nursing homes, and let children go hungry so billionaires can pocket six-figure tax breaks they don’t need.
We’re fighting back and we need your support to fuel the grassroots organizing and district-level pressure it will take to hold Trump and Congress accountable. Donate $4 this 4th of July to power the fight.
This is a deliberate assault on the idea of a government that protects its people. And signing it over the July 4th weekend is no accident, it’s a calculated move to bury the story and the impact it’s going to have. While Americans gather with their families, while news cameras turn to parades and fireworks, Trump is signing away the healthcare, food security, and basic dignity of tens of millions of people so he and his donors can get a huge tax break.
We believe in an America where lives aren't collateral for billionaire tax breaks, where the role of government is to protect its people, not to enrich the already wealthy and powerful. We’re scaling up grassroots organizing and tracking every lawmaker who voted for this bill. We’re turning outrage into accountability. But we need your help to do it.
Please make a contribution right now to help us fight back and hold Congress accountable.

This weekend, let’s reclaim what patriotism really means: standing up for the people this bill leaves behind.
