Supreme Court to Review Campaign Finance Limits on Party Spending:

The U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear a Republican-led challenge to federal limits on how much national political parties can spend in coordination with candidates for Congress and president. The case, brought by the National Republican Senatorial Committee and others, argues that these limits violate the First Amendment. The Court's decision to take up the case suggests a potential reevaluation of longstanding campaign finance regulations, which could have significant implications for future elections.

Senate Passes President Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill," House Vote Imminent: The U.S. Senate narrowly passed President Donald Trump's comprehensive legislative package, known as the "One Big Beautiful Bill," with a 51-50 vote, Vice President JD Vance casting the tie-breaking vote. The nearly 900-page bill includes provisions to extend the 2017 tax cuts, reduce welfare spending, increase defense and border security funding, and impose stricter work requirements for food stamps. The Congressional Budget Office estimates the bill will add $3.3 trillion to the national debt over the next decade. The bill now moves to the House of Representatives, where its passage remains uncertain due to slim vote margins and internal GOP dissent.

Supreme Court to Hear Challenge on Transgender Student-Athlete Bans: The U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear appeals from West Virginia and Idaho seeking to enforce state laws that ban transgender athletes from participating in female sports teams at public schools. This decision follows a trend of rulings favoring conservative policies, including a recent verdict upholding a Tennessee ban on gender-affirming care for transgender minors. The upcoming case will address whether such bans violate the 14th Amendment's equal protection clause and Title IX, which prohibits sex-based discrimination in education. The Court is set to hear the case in its next term beginning in October, marking a pivotal moment in the national debate over transgender rights.
