Liberal Democrats Our 72 MPs are making a real difference, fighting for a fair
deal every day

<[link removed]>

How time flies! One year ago, Liberal Democrats won 72 seats to become the
largest third party in Parliament in 100 years.

Years of Conservative chaos and neglect left the country with broken public
services, a cost-of-living crisis, and sewage filling our rivers. Our stunning
success was a sign of hope.

With the Labour Government lacking the ambition and urgency needed to clean
up the Conservatives’ mess, we’re standing up as an effective opposition.

Ever since the election, our local champions have been working hard to fix
our broken health and care services, help with the cost-of-living, and deliver
the change the country is crying out for.

One year on, we’re stronger than ever, with local election victories and
policy wins, Lib Dems are making a difference.

But we couldn’t have got here without you, John - thank you for your support!

Relive our historic campaign!

Do you have a touch of nostalgia for our campaign which gripped the nation?

Who could forget Ed’s famous bungee jump or his heartfelt reflections on
being a carer <[link removed]>?

Sit back and relive some of our campaign highlights below:

We couldn’t have done it without you, John!

The Liberal Democrats only function due to the hard work and dedication of
our volunteers.

Everyone who knocked on doors, delivered leaflets, donated to our campaign,
voted for us, or helped in any other way, made a difference and helped deliver
our historic result.

However you supported us - thank you.

We’re making a difference

Our voice in Parliament has never been stronger and we’re using it to make a
true difference to people’s lives.

Here are some of our policy wins since the election: šŸ”½

šŸŽ Free School Meals – Extended
<[link removed]> following years-long Lib Dem
campaign.

ā˜€ļø Solar Panels – Required on all new-build homes under Max Wilkinson MP’s new
ā€˜Sunshine Bill’ <[link removed]>.

āœˆļø Youth Mobility Scheme – Government to develop a scheme
<[link removed]>
for young people to work and travel across Europe, adopting a key Lib Dem
policy.

āš–ļø Victim Protection – Government accepts
<[link removed]>
Josh Babarinde MP’s bill to formally recognise domestic abuse crimes, plus
Sarah Olney MP's campaign to make court transcripts free for victims of rape
and sexual violence.

🐶 Puppy Smuggling Ban – Danny Chambers MP’s bill
<[link removed]> to stop the illegal import
of mutilated pets to become law.

And we’re not stopping there!

Continuing our fight for a Fair Deal

Whether it be through bills, amendments, speeches, or votes, we’re using our
voice in Parliament every day for bold action on the issues that matter.

<>Tackling the health and social care crisis

Saving the NHS has been a key priority. At every opportunity, we’ve pushed the
Labour Government to be much more ambitious on health, from providing timely GP
appointments to fixing crumbling hospitals.

Ed Davey has also continued his campaign to support unpaid carers and end the
social care crisis, withnumerous PMQs
<[link removed]> on the topic, releasing his book
on care
<[link removed]>
, and aChristmas charity single <[link removed]>
with young carers.

<[link removed]>Helping with the cost-of-living

People are working harder than ever but struggling to make ends meet. Helping
people get on in life is exactly what our fair deal is about.

In her response to the Spending Review
<[link removed]> this month, Daisy Cooper MP
outlined why big banks, social media companies, and gambling giants should pay
their fair share, to help fund public services and support those in need.

<[link removed]>Demanding
action on polluting water companies

We’re demanding the Government do more to hold polluting water companies to
account andreform the entire system
<[link removed]> to stop it
ever happening again.

We’ve pushed numerous amendments in Parliament to these ends, including this
month, when Lisa Smart MP tabled anamendment
<[link removed]> to hold water
company managers liable for missing pollution commitment levels.

<[link removed]>
Pushing for electoral reform

Back in December, Sarah Olney MP won a historic vote
<[link removed]>
, when her bill to introduce proportional representation for Westminster
elections and local government elections in England passed in the House of
Commons - the first time a vote on this topic has ever done so.

The Liberal Democrats are truly going from strength to strength.

This May, we had our 7th set of gains in a row at local elections across
England. Controlling more councils than the Conservatives, we’re now the second
party of local government!

With another crucial set of local elections and important Holyrood and Senedd
elections coming next year - helping us set the foundations for the next
General Election - there’s so much more work to be done, John!

Our fight for a fair deal has only just begun…

Best wishes,

Liberal Democrats
