John,
As families and communities across the country gather to enjoy the Fourth of July weekend, I hope you’ll take a moment to reflect on what it truly means to be an American. Our nation was founded by determined patriots who believed in the promise of democracy — a promise that continues to guide us through times of challenge and change.
That same spirit of patriotism lives on today. It’s in the classroom where a child first learns the words of the Constitution. It’s in the hands of a new citizen raising theirs to take the oath. It’s in the quiet resolve of a first-time voter, and in the courage of those who stand up for justice and equality.
We are a nation shaped not by sameness, but by the incredible diversity of our people — by the strength that comes from compassion and a shared belief in progress. Our democracy, while not perfect, is far stronger than those who would seek to weaken it. It endures because people across this country continue to work together to protect it.
As your Senator, I remain committed to that work. I’ll keep fighting to ensure that our laws, our institutions, and our opportunities reflect the values of fairness, freedom, and dignity for all.
Wishing you a safe and meaningful Independence Day.
