On this Independence Day, join me in celebrating our greatest treasure as
Americans: the gift of liberty.


As we reflect on the countless lives sacrificed in the pursuit of liberty from
tyranny, from the American Revolutionary War battles that took place in Upstate
New York and the North Country to the brave men and women stationed at Fort
Drum today, let us vow never to take our freedom for granted. With freedom
comes great responsibility.


It is our responsibility to protect and honor America's sacred promise to
protect our God given rights of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.


Our courageous Founding Fathers set a powerful example that through the worst
of times and through the best of times, we must fearlessly continue to fight
for America’s prosperity and safeguard the American Dream for generations.
