Dear Friend,   

As we gather with loved ones to celebrate the 4th of July, we reflect on the freedoms granted to us on this day 249 years ago and the responsibility to protect them for future generations. 

This morning, as I prepare for events across California’s 40th District, I recognize the sacrifices of those who came before me. I cherish the values of this great nation and the promise of America — a promise I hold dear as a mother, a grandmother, an immigrant, and a proud Representative of CA-40.  

Furthermore, I reflect on these unalienable rights: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. These truths are self-evident — but they are not guaranteed. 

That is why I am fighting in Congress to preserve the American Dream I have been privileged to live for my grandchildren and yours. I am working to get our country back on the right track by supporting policies that help make life more affordable, keep our communities safe, and ensure America shines as a beacon of hope and opportunity on the world stage. 

This Independence Day, as we gather with friends and family, let us all take time to remember what unites us as Americans and express our gratitude for our freedoms and the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect us. 

Despite the challenges we face, I believe in our community, and I will continue to do my part to keep the American Dream alive.
