Happy Independence Day to you and your loved ones. 🇺🇸
Today, we honor the bold, imperfect act of independence that gave rise to this country. And we reflect on the freedoms we’ve fought for ever since — the right to vote, to speak freely, to organize, to live in a country where liberty and justice for all is more than just a slogan.
But this year, that reflection feels heavier.
Because those freedoms — the very ones we celebrate today — are all under attack.
The Trump administration and the far-right forces backing it have made it their mission to roll back decades of progress. They’re slashing healthcare, threatening war in the Middle East, banning books, stripping away reproductive rights, fueling hate and violence, and trying to rig our democracy to hold onto power at any cost.
So while today is a holiday, it’s also a reminder: Freedom isn’t just something we inherit. It’s something we fight for.
At Leaders We Deserve, we believe that fight is only winnable if we elect a new generation of young, bold, unapologetic leaders — people who are ready to take up the mantle of progress and protect our democracy before it’s too late.
