A Historic Fourth of July!

Today, we celebrate the birth of the United States of America — the land of the free and the home of the brave. I am incredibly grateful to live in a nation where freedom and democracy thrive, thanks to the sacrifices of our brave servicemen and women. To those who have courageously defended our country over the past 249 years, we thank you for your service. 🇺🇸

This Fourth of July is especially meaningful because, just yesterday, House Republicans passed the One Big Beautiful Bill, which President Trump is signing into law today. After four years of Democrats' chaos — which led to a raging border crisis, weakened national security, and a broken economy — this historic legislation puts our nation back on track.

It delivers on the American people's mandate by funding President Trump’s border security efforts, bolstering the Department of Defense at a crucial time in history, and making permanent the largest tax cut in history. I’m proud to have joined my Republican colleagues in voting to restore our great nation and put this historic bill on the president’s desk just in time for Independence Day.

The One Big Beautiful Bill is good news for all Americans, and it's even better news for Texans. I'm proud to announce that the bill included my provision to reimburse border states — primarily Texas — with billions of dollars for the costs they incurred to secure the border under President Biden.

When the Biden administration abdicated its federal responsibility to secure the homeland, Texas stepped up. For four years, our state bore the brunt of this unnecessary crisis — fighting tirelessly on the front lines to defend all 50 states.

That’s why for the past few months, I worked hand-in-hand with House GOP leadership, Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green, and Texas Governor Greg Abbott to reimburse our border states with the funds they deserve — funds that Texan taxpayers should never have been on the hook for in the first place. On behalf of a grateful nation, I’m proud to have secured this provision to finally pay Texas back!
