Letter from the Mayor

Dear Washingtonians,

As we head into the holiday weekend, I want to invite you to celebrate Independence Day with us tomorrow. In addition to the parades happening across the city, we are also hosting our now-annual Fourth of July in the District concert Downtown. The concert has a star-studded line-up featuring Grammy-nominated artists Jeremih and The War and Treaty, along with the world-class U.S. Air Force Band, local favorites DC Vybe, DJ Quicksilva, and more.

The concert will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Pennsylvania Avenue, between 12th and 13th Streets NW. The event is free with first-come, first-served seating. There will be food trucks on-site, as well as a “Kids Zone” sponsored by DPR.

Fourth of July in the District Talent Lineup

If you’re coming to the concert, heading to the National Mall, or just making your way around DC, I encourage you to take public transportation. Metrorail, Metrobus, and MetroAccess will be free beginning at 5:00 p.m. on July 4, until the system closes.

If you’re not already signed up to receive real-time updates on traffic, weather, and public safety through alert.dc.gov, I encourage you to do so.

No matter how you celebrate, have a safe and fun holiday!

Sincerely,

Muriel BowserMayor Bowser at the Fourth of July Press Conference
