Dear Friend,
Republicans in the House of Representatives are on the brink of passing their Big Ugly Bill that will devastate our communities in order to pay for tax cuts for the rich. It will strip healthcare from 17 million Americans—including over 1.6 million Texans. Families and children will lose SNAP benefits, including 96,000 folks in San Antonio alone.
But it’s not over yet.
I spoke on the House floor to call on House Republicans to put the wellbeing of their constituents over their career and vote against this bill.

View speech here.
This week, I also shared my thoughts on why this bill would devastate the Latino community, seniors, and hard-working folks in Texas, all while adding trillions to our national debt. This morning, I shared my final thoughts with you and why the fight is not over.
Keep speaking out and sharing your story. There is too much at stake. If you’d like to stay up to date on what I am up to, you can follow me on X, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and Bluesky.
That’s all for the moment. Talk soon.
Sincerely,
Joaquin Castro Member of Congress
