Fentanyl continues to devastate communities across the country, tearing apart families and fueling a public health emergency that shows no signs of slowing down.
That’s why I recently supported the passage of S. 331, the HALT Fentanyl Act, a bipartisan bill that provides the tools needed to combat the spread of deadly fentanyl-related substances — while preserving access to legal, FDA-approved treatments.
This bill permanently classifies fentanyl-related substances as Schedule I drugs, helping to prosecute traffickers and manufacturers who develop dangerous new variants designed to mimic fentanyl’s effects.
It’s a commonsense, bipartisan solution — and it passed the House with strong support, 321–104.
