Friend, you should have the freedom to be safe in your neighborhood.
On this day in 2023, as families were preparing for Independence Day block parties and cookouts, a gunman in a bulletproof vest wreaked havoc in a Philadelphia community by randomly firing at children and adults alike.
Five people were killed, including a 15-year-old child. A 2-year-old survivor was shot four times in the legs.
Today is the second anniversary of the deadly mass shooting in Philadelphia’s Kingsessing neighborhood, a nightmare that was made real because the gunman was able to bypass a background check by buying a ghost gun kit on the internet and quickly putting the gun together at home.
Ghost guns are untraceable firearms that lack a serial number and are assembled from components purchased either as a kit or as separate parts. Soon after this shooting, the Biden Administration began requiring background checks for ghost gun purchases. But as you know, the Trump Administration could reverse that any day. It's why we need to empower local law enforcement with a PA law to help keep us safe.
If you agree that a ghost gun can kill just like any other gun, please sign our petition calling for legislators to act.
Tell your legislators to ban ghost guns in Pennsylvania. All guns should be traceable and subject to our laws.
