PA Representative Joe Webster banner image

Dear Neighbor, I hope you are well and happy this July! Before we get started on our holiday weekend, I wanted to share a few updates with you including my upcoming office hours, legislation we passed in the PA House and sent to the governor’s desk, a recent scam to keep an eye on and other events and helpful information.

Remember to scroll down to the community events section to find out what’s happening in the district and across Montgomery County!

As always, I hope you find the information below useful.

Important Updates/Highlights

Independence Day

Friday is Independence Day, a day where we celebrate the birth of our nation and honor the sacrifices made in order to protect and uphold our freedoms. This holiday also reminds us that our country is free and welcoming to all—not just a select few. So, as you barbecue, jump in the pool or watch fireworks with your neighbors, remember that unity moves us forward, not division. And a reminder to please be safe and mindful of others as you celebrate.

It’s never too early to look forward to next year too, when America celebrates its 250th birthday! Keep an eye out for events in district and across our beautiful commonwealth commemorating this significant anniversary. You can follow along through my email, any of my social media accounts or by visiting America250PA | Start Here, America Did!

Holiday Office Closure

My district office will be closing tomorrow, Thursday, July 3 at 12 p.m. (noon) and will be closed all day on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. We will re-open on Monday, July 7, at 9:30 a.m.

If you need any state-related assistance, please call 484-200-8263 or email [email protected] and a member of my staff will contact you.

Scam Alert

Neighbors, please be on the lookout for a recent email scam that has been targeting older Pennsylvanians. Officials said the reported scam involved scammers impersonating a Commonwealth employee and requesting money be sent through a licensed financial institution in order to receive a fake inheritance.

Women’s Health Survey

Women in Pennsylvania—the PA Women’s Health Caucus wants to hear from you!

Take this quick, anonymous survey to share your real-life experiences accessing women’s healthcare in our Commonwealth. Your feedback will help identify gaps in care and improve critical health services for women. The survey is open until July 7, 2025.

Germantown Pike Bridge Closed on July 8

Heads up, neighbors! Montgomery County announced the bridge on Germantown Pike that crosses over the Skippack Creek next to Skippack Creek Road will be closed on Tuesday, July 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for storm debris removal. A detour will be in place during the scheduled work hours.

Please plan accordingly and maintain safe driving habits while crews are working.

What I’ve Been Up To

Bucks-Mont Pride

I had a great time volunteering at the Bucks-Mont Pride Festival yesterday with my wife Laura and my staff! We helped vendors unload and set up, and we were excited to enjoy the festivities after.

It was wonderful seeing everyone come together at the Abington Arts Center to celebrate PRIDE and support the LGBTQ+ community, and I can’t wait to get back out there next year.

Legislative Updates

House Bill 1599 Passes

I’m happy to announce that House Bill 1599—sponsored by Rep. Chris Rabb, me, Rep. Mandy Steele, Rep. Brian Munroe and Rep. Jim Haddock—passed the PA House with bipartisan support, 159-43.

In summary, this bill would require electric utility members of PJM to disclose any recorded vote made within the organization to the Pennsylvania Utility Commission while also providing a brief description explaining how the vote is in the public’s interest. When it comes to decisions that could affect our health and future, transparency and accountability matter.

This bill now moves to the state Senate for consideration. If you’d like to read more about it or track its progress, click here: www.palegis.us/legislation/bills/2025/hb1599
