[ [link removed] ]Infuriating!! 50 Republican Senators just voted to slash healthcare,
undermine nutrition and public schools, and hurt our economy and our
families by voting to narrowly pass Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill”
(which is really a Big Bad Betrayal Bill). The vote of 50 to 50, required
Vice President Vance to cast the tie-breaking vote. While the bad bill
passed the Senate, there were also champions for us there too: Thankfully
not a single Democrat Senator voted for the bill and Republican Senators
Tillis (NC), Collins (ME), and Paul (KY) also stood their ground and voted
against this terrible package.

None of these funding slashes needed to happen. All of this is being done

push this bad bill through the House of Representatives before the 4th of
July holiday so that Republicans can enjoy their BBQs, while our families
figure out how they are going to afford groceries and medical bills.

This bill is a giant pile of awful—hurting our families, communities,
educators, children, and economy—900 pages of bad. Here are the top lines
of what is in the bill:
* Health Care: Drastically cuts Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act
(ACA) which will take health care away from nearly 17 million people
and close 300 rural hospitals. This will disproportionately impact
children, seniors, new parents, people with disabilities, and
low-income families. It will also hurt our communities by raising
health care costs, closing obstetric and other specialty units in
hospitals, and forcing states to make agonizing budget decisions over
whether to cut health care, or other priorities like education, public
safety, and infrastructure, harming all of our medical care.
* Nutrition Assistance: Makes a historic $186 billion cut to SNAP/food
stamps, enforces new work requirements and red tape for parents with
school-aged children, and, for the first time ever, shifts significant
federal government spending of SNAP to states, forcing states to find
millions of extra dollars in their budgets in order to serve hungry
families, leading most states to cut people off the program or leave
the SNAP program entirely.
* Planned Parenthood: Blocks Planned Parenthood from receiving federal
funds, impacting the over 2 million women a year who use their
services for pregnancy and family planning, prenatal and postpartum
services, cancer screenings, mental health care, vaccines, and more.
* Public Education: $5 billion to fund private school vouchers which
would divert funds from public schools that are already underfunded.
* Immigrant Families: This bill is a direct attack on immigrant
families—both those here legally and undocumented. This bill blocks
immigrants here legally from vital health care while also spending
hundreds of billions of dollars abducting hardworking immigrants,
separating families, and sending people to prisons in other countries
where they are likely to be tortured, paid for with cuts to Medicaid.
There are also a bunch of terrible provisions buried into this enormous
bill that we still don’t know the details about….and won’t learn about for
days. Hence why Republicans rushing this through the House borders on
criminal.

funding for even more human rights abuses. Our nation needs a safe and
orderly immigration process that balances compassion and security, not
