Last week, during the first-ever AJC Virtual Global Forum, we heard from world leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Israeli Alternate Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Benjamin (Benny) Gantz, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and many others. And importantly, they also heard from us. With AJC as our platform, we raised our voices, making it clear where we stand on issues like rising antisemitism, the security of Israel, and the defense of democratic values. Instead of shouting into the wind, we are seen as a trusted partner for those in the halls of power.
AJC has a 114-year record of making courageous moves. Now we are on a bold quest to write a new chapter in Muslim-Jewish relations. In January, we joined forces with Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League, to bring the most senior delegation of Muslim leaders ever to visit Auschwitz. Last week, Dr. Al-Issa addressed the Virtual Global Forum opening plenary, discussing the importance of Muslim-Jewish ties and AJC’s central role in strengthening them.
Two days later, we made history again as Dr. Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, engaged us in a public dialogue, calling for greater Arab cooperation with Israel. Both appearances drew headlines around the world and demonstrated the importance of AJC’s determined efforts.
Successful advocacy is not about how loud you shout. It’s about who’s listening and why. Because of AJC, last week—and every week—leaders in positions of power around the world are listening to you.
Make sure our voices can continue to be heard. Please make a donation to AJC today. |
