Message from Congressman Scott Fitzgerald

Good morning, everyone, and happy Monday!

I’d like to begin this week’s eNewsletter by highlighting a recent Supreme Court ruling. Last week, the Trump Administration won a major victory when the Supreme Court ruled to limit judges' ability to block the President’s birthright citizenship order nationwide.

The Supreme Court rightly ruled that lower-court judges have for years overstepped their authority to issue “nationwide” injunctions that apply to non-parties in a lawsuit. This ruling will help restore the Constitutional separation of powers and return to the traditional process of allowing key questions of law to percolate across multiple courts.

Expanding Access to Lending Options Act

Recently, I introduced the Expanding Access to Lending Options Act. As the cost of living continues to rise, families and small businesses need more flexible, affordable lending options. This bill gives credit unions the ability to offer longer-term loans, helping borrowers plan for the future and stay on top of their financial obligations without being locked into high monthly payments.

Rep. Fitzgerald Questions Federal Reserve Chair Powell’s Decision Not to Cut Interest Rates

Last week, I questioned Federal Reserve Chair Powell’s decision not to cut interest rates. The similarities between the numbers we’re seeing now and those we saw when the Fed cut rates by half a percentage point in September 2024 suggest American consumers should get rate cuts now.

Rep. Fitzgerald Introduces Bill to Stop Proxy Advisors from Imposing ESG on U.S. Companies

Recently, I introduced the Stopping Proxy Advisor Racketeering Act. Proxy advisory firms have outsized influence over corporate governance but operate in the shadows to push a radical ESG agenda. My bill will rein in these unaccountable firms and restore fairness and transparency for American investors.

Miller Lite's 50th Anniversary

It was great to celebrate Miller Lite’s 50th anniversary, a milestone for one of America’s most iconic beers, proudly brewed in Wisconsin! From its beginnings in Milwaukee to becoming a national favorite, Miller Lite’s success is a testament to the generations of Wisconsin workers who’ve poured their skill and pride into every can. I’m committed to supporting policies that keep Wisconsin-made products strong and our manufacturing jobs growing. Cheers to 50 more!

Fitzgerald Discusses How Foreign-Owned Proxy Advisors Threaten Free Enterprise & Competitive Markets

Foreign-owned proxy advisors like ISS and Glass Lewis act as de facto regulators of American companies and push a radical ESG agenda.

They engage in blatant conflicts of interest, selling “consulting services” to the same companies they issue recommendations against, and punishing those that refuse to pay. It’s a mafia-style shakedown disguised as corporate governance.

That’s why I introduced the Stopping Proxy Advisor Racketeering Act, which would end this coerced pay-to-play system and restore fairness for American investors.
