Service Academy Send-off Ceremony

Every year, I have the honor of nominating outstanding students to enroll in a service academy. This year, I nominated eight talented students who stood out for their academic excellence and high moral character. I joined them last week to celebrate their hard-earned accomplishments and their decision to serve our nation. Congratulations to the eight San Antonio students who will embark on this rewarding journey in the weeks ahead.

MSNBC The Weekend

Image

I joined MSNBC to discuss the President’s decision to illegally strike Iran. Americans don’t want another long, messy, and expensive war. Instead of spending trillions on another war in the Middle East, we should invest in Americans and build out the infrastructure of opportunity here at home.

Conversation with Mehdi Hasan of Zeteo News

This week, I sat down with Mehdi Hasan of Zeteo News to discuss avoiding another costly war in the Middle East, stopping ICE from disappearing our neighbors and intimidating communities, and the importance of banding together as Americans.

Meeting with Friends of the American Latino Museum

Image

One of my favorite things about working in Congress is meeting with constituents and organizations who are working to build the infrastructure of opportunity in San Antonio and across our country.

This week I met with the Friends of the American Latino Museum to discuss efforts to establish the National Museum of the American Latino on the National Mall. The museum seeks to strengthen Latino representation and to tell the story of Latino Americans who have made our communities and country stronger and more vibrant.

Meeting with Excelencia in Education Policy Fellows

Image
This week I also had the opportunity to meet with Policy Fellows from Excelencia in Education. We discussed the importance of federal investments in our education infrastructure so that students can break through barriers and pave the way for others to come.

Statement on Supreme Court Ruling on Birthright Citizenship

Image

The Supreme Court’s ruling sets the stage for Trump’s attack on birthright citizenship, tearing apart families and communities. It is cruel and un-American. Our constitution makes it clear that people born in this country are citizens.
