First Liberty
The U.S. Supreme Court delivered a decisive victory for parental
rights and religious freedom today. In their Mahmoud v. Taylor
decision, the Court ruled that parents have the right to opt their
children out of radical gender theory lessons in public schools.

decision and what it means for parents and schools going forward:

Because of the long-term implications of this case, First Liberty
filed a friend-of-the-court brief supporting the parents. In the
brief, we explained that the Supreme Court has long recognized the
rights of parents to direct the religious upbringing of their
children.
As Kayla said, our children do not belong to the state. Schools
can't be allowed to hide what they're teaching simply
because they disagree with parents' values or religious beliefs.
We are thankful that the justices have once again put the rights of
parents above the desire of government to indoctrinate.

Fight Back Against Indoctrination

With this ruling, First Liberty is now in a stronger position to fight
for the Encinas family against the Encinitas Union School District in
California.
Their fifth-grade son was not only required to affirm a book promoting
radical gender ideology, but he was also forced to teach the concept
of gender transition to kindergarteners.
When his parents asked for the ability to opt their children out of
future lessons that contradicted their religious beliefs, the school
district denied their request.
No one should be forced to deliver a message that contradicts their
religious beliefs. Not you. Not me. And especially, not our children.
With today's Mahmoud decision, the Supreme Court delivered a
clear message. Parents do not forfeit their rights to direct their
children's education when they drop them off at school.
The outcome of the Encinas case could add to that ruling by setting a
precedent that protects students from being forced to speak messages
that go against their deeply held beliefs.
