John, this week, a naturalized citizen, organizer, and bold progressive just beat the establishment political machine in the biggest city in the country.
Zohran Mamdani will be the Democratic nominee for Mayor of New York City because he built an incredible coalition based on a real vision for working people to have a fair shot. He organized relentlessly around bold policies that will tangibly improve people’s lives, and refused to sell out his values. And together with other progressive candidates like Brad Lander, they built a cross endorsement strategy to beat the establishment.
Pramila is so proud to have endorsed both Zohran and Brad because she knows we need leaders who don’t just tell us who to vote against, but who give us something to vote for.
This victory isn’t just a win for New York. It’s a signal to the Democratic Party and to the country as a whole: It’s time for us to build a government that relentlessly focuses on making life better for working people and poor people — not the billionaires — and to not throw anyone under the bus as we do that.
Zohran’s fierce and joyful forward-looking campaign turned out people who felt inspired to vote for the first time, a multi-generational, multi-ethnic coalition that felt seen by Zohran’s authentic commitment to policies that lift them up — from rent freezes to universal health care to affordable food. That’s the stuff everyone needs day-to-day to thrive, not just survive.
But victories like this don’t happen by accident. They happen because candidates step up, volunteer organizers put in the work, and grassroots donors like you pitch in a few dollars at a time to fuel progressive campaigns.
So if you’re fired up about what just happened in New York — if you believe we need more leaders like Zohran all over the country — then please, pitch in $3 or whatever you can to help grow our progressive movement nationwide.
Now is not the time to rest on our laurels. It’s time to keep building a movement that’s bold, unapologetic, and centered on the needs of everyday people, not billionaire donors.
In solidarity,
Team Pramila
