Dear John,
A dangerous tax bill just passed in the House and is now heading to the Senate. Young people deserve a future where they are safe, healthy, and free, but the Senate tax bill threatens all of that and more.
This bill gives massive tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy and large corporations, while slashing vital healthcare and social safety net programs. It also ramps up violent immigration enforcement. Medicaid, is one of the programs on the chopping block, it is a lifeline for LGBTQ+ communities, covering HIV treatment, PrEP, gender-affirming care, and mental health services. It's the single largest source of insurance for people living with HIV, and states that expanded Medicaid have seen significantly higher rates of PrEP access.
This isn’t just a tax bill—it’s a direct attack on the rights, health, and futures of young people, especially LGBTQ+ youth, low-income communities, and people of color.
If passed, this bill would:
- Give massive tax cuts to the wealthy and corporations
- Restrict access to reproductive and sexual health care
- Charge people fees just to sue the government
- Suspend Medicaid coverage for transgender health care, targeting both minors and adults
This is a direct attack on LGBTQ+ people, low-income communities, and young people’s access to basic health care and justice.
We’re not backing down—we’re fighting for young people’s rights, for trans lives, for access to care, and for a democracy that works for everyone. And so should you.
Here’s what you can do:
- Send a letter to your representatives urging them to reject this harmful bill
- Support trans, queer, Black, and Brown youth by showing up, speaking out, and sharing resources
- Stay informed. Stay loud. Stay together. Share this alert with your networks
These are dangerous times, but we’re in this together. Let’s make sure the Senate hears from us.
In Solidarity,
Mo Shora
