John --
It is our mission to help elect powerful organizers and community leaders to Congress; people who understand the deep history of struggle in our country.
Today we reflect on Juneteenth, the day in 1865 when slaves in Texas were finally told that they had been freed -- TWO YEARS earlier. We know that was only one small step in the march toward justice. The struggle for equal justice continues to this day.
Juneteenth wasn’t the end. Since then the Black community has endured systemic oppression, from the rise of Confederate memorialization to Jim Crow, to the War on Drugs and police brutality we see today on our streets.
So today, we lift the voices of leaders like Cori Bush (MO-10) and Isiah James (NY-09) who have been leading the charge on the ground for years.

Today, we remember. We celebrate. We honor. And we continue fighting to elect a Congress that reflects the communities it serves.
In solidarity,
Zeynab Day
Brand New Congress
