John — Three years ago today, the landscape of protections for reproductive care and abortion access was fundamentally changed by the Dobbs decision.

A right-wing majority on the U.S. Supreme Court overturned decades of precedent that protected access to care nationwide, and, in the years since, anti-choice legislators up and down the ballot and across the country have rolled back the clock on our rights.

As the youngest woman serving in Congress, this issue is deeply personal to me and our entire team, led by intelligent and dedicated young women. The decision of when and whether to start a family is a personal one, and everyone deserves the freedom to make that choice without government interference, with their medical professionals.

When Roe v. Wade was overturned, as a member of the Phoenix City Council, I reached out directly to abortion providers in places like South Phoenix and Laveen to help bring clarity on the legal landscape. I knew I had to take immediate action — that’s why we drafted and passed an ordinance that protects patients and providers from legal repercussions from anti-choice extremists.

Protecting the right to abortion care and expanding reproductive healthcare is one of the main reasons I decided to run for public office, John. I am a proud reproductive rights champion, and I’ll do everything in my power to not only restore the protections of Roe, but to work to ensure all have access to life-saving reproductive health services.
