A new peer-reviewed study by JAMA Pediatrics just confirmed that the number of children and teens killed by gun violence skyrocketed in states that weakened gun laws. But in states that strengthened gun laws, those deaths stayed flat—or declined.
And meanwhile, Donald Trump’s administration has weakened background checks, opened the door to untraceable ghost guns, gutted enforcement, and helped overturn the federal ban on bump stocks and forced-reset triggers—devices that turn ordinary rifles into machine guns.
The consequences are clear: more children are dying. And that is unacceptable. Refusing to act in the face of this crisis isn’t neutrality—it’s complicity.

In the 13 years after the Supreme Court gutted local gun safety laws, over 7,400 more children were killed by guns than expected. That’s thousands of families shattered. Thousands of futures erased. All for a preventable reason. All because lawmakers refused to act—or worse, chose to roll back lifesaving protections.
