It’s June!  That means it’s Pride Month—a time to celebrate the LGBTQI+ community in Texas and across the country.  It’s a time to recognize the progress we’ve made, reflected in the lives of people living authentically and proudly.

I am so proud to represent the diverse and dynamic LGBTQI+ community in TX-07—from its longtime heart in Houston’s Montrose area to every corner of the district.

As a Vice Chair of the Equality Caucus, I’m honored to help lead efforts in Congress to advance equality, fight discrimination, and improve opportunities for the LGBTQI+ community.  As a Board Member of Equality PAC—the political arm of the Congressional Equality Caucus—I’m helping support LGBTQI+ candidates and allies committed to securing full legal and societal equality for LGBTQI+ Americans.

This Pride Month, we must recommit ourselves to the fight for dignity and rights for all people.  Our work is especially critical now, as LGBTQI+ Americans face discrimination and dehumanization from the Trump administration.  Its actions and efforts don’t reflect our values as Houstonians or Americans.

And we can do something about that: win elections.  And to win, we need to work together—campaigns, organizations, allies, and friends—to elect leaders we can trust.

And that’s what Equality PAC does.  So, this Pride Month, I’m asking you to consider making a contribution to the Equality PAC.  Each contribution will go toward supporting candidates committed to ensuring full civil rights and protections for LGBTQI+ Americans.

Each June, we are reminded of how important it is to live authentically with pride.  And it’s important to elect people who will work to make that possible for all people.
