Dear
John,
Today is Juneteenth - a holiday that is very near and dear to my heart.
Dating back more than 150 years, Juneteenth is a celebration of the day when the last enslaved people were freed - more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
All of my life, Juneteenth has been a joyous celebration of Black freedom, resiliency and beauty. This year, as the movement for racial justice surges across the country, Juneteenth has also become a day of action.
The National Partnership is joining BYP100 (Black Youth Project 100) in collecting signatures for an urgent petition demanding Congress address police violence immediately.

BYP100 is also very near and dear to me. I am currently engaged with this courageous, youth-led organization through its DC Chapter. BYP100 mobilizes, develops and empowers Black 18-35 year-old activists and organizers dedicated to creating justice and freedom for all Black people.
Celebrate Juneteenth with me and the National Partnership by signing the petition to demand Congress address police violence immediately.

And please take a moment to learn more about BYP100 and BYP100 DC and support their important work. Follow @BYP100 on Twitter for updates
