Team,
Education is the great equalizer.
For undocumented students in Texas, this rings especially true. Access to affordable higher education has opened the door for life-changing opportunities that help power Texas forward.
But without warning, a federal court banned Texas from continuing the Texas Dream Act, the 24-year-old law that enabled undocumented students to access in-state tuition for public colleges. Texas officials did not contest the decision.
Abruptly ending the Texas Dream Act isn’t just a policy change. This move will create a ripple effect, impacting the futures of thousands of young Texans whose only dream is to learn, grow, and contribute to the communities they call home.
This includes aspiring doctors and nurses who would help keep Texans healthy, rising lawyers who would fight for justice in Texas’ courts, and future teachers who would inspire and educate classrooms across the state.
Ending this policy isn’t the Texan way, and it’s not what Texans want.
Our leaders should be expanding access to education, not taking it away. They should be giving raises to teachers, addressing student hunger, and fixing crumbling school infrastructure — not funding the mass kidnappings of our family members and neighbors.
United We Dream is bringing hundreds of young people and working people together who are ready to meet this moment together with courage to forge a better future for each other. We power each other — and we’re taking collective action to fight for what we deserve.
We can’t stand by while our students are robbed of their futures. If you’re with us, please pitch in a $10 donation to support our fight today. Any amount helps power United We Dream’s organizing efforts to empower young people to organize their communities into action:
