Dear friend,

Sunday was Father’s Day. A day when many dads were celebrated, surrounded by love and laughter.

For me and for too many other fathers — it was a day spent missing someone who should still be here. My daughter Carmen should’ve been here. But she was taken from us by horrific mass violence at her school.

That’s why I’m part of Stand With Parkland, and why I’m asking you to take action today.

We must protect the programs that keep our schools safe. SchoolSafety.gov and the CISA School Safety Task Force are critical tools to prevent violence. If Congress doesn’t act, they’ll disappear.

Fathers like me carry the weight every day. Thank you for carrying some of it with us.

With gratitude,

Carmen’s dad (Phil Schentrup)
