Next week on Capitol Hill, MomsRising will be creating a buzz 🐝 about the
urgent need for Senators to vote NO on the Big Bad BEEtrayal Budget bill
by swarming the Capitol. The Senate may vote as soon as June 26th—and we
need your help!

in Washington, D.C. for a Morning of Action to tell U.S. Senators to vote
NO on the Big Bad BEEtrayal Bill?
Kids are welcome! We’ll even provide a 🐝free bee🐝 costume for your child
to wear to get the buzz up. (And we have free t-shirts for parents too!)
Right now is a critically important time for families in the U.S. as
Republican Senate leaders rush to vote on the Big Bad Betrayal Bill before
the Fourth of July—possibly even before the end of June. That means we
need to move quickly to organize and take action.
ICYMI— House Republicans passed Trump’s awful budget and tax bill that
blatantly prioritizes tax breaks for billionaires and mega-corporations
over essential programs (like Medicaid and SNAP) that allow our families
and economy to thrive. Now, it’s up to the U.S. Senate to review this
bill—and that’s where we come in.
[ [link removed] ]We need you! On Wednesday, June 25th on the Hill, tell the U.S. Senate
that moms, families, and caregivers are watching. Cuts to health care,
food assistance, and education sting families and the economy—and we won’t
stand for this Big Bad BEEtrayal!
We’re facing the biggest cuts to health care and food stamps in American
history: the Big Bad Betrayal Bill includes $860 billion in cuts to
Medicaid and $250 billion in cuts to food assistance. [1] 16 million
Americans stand to lose their health care coverage as a result of this
harmful bill, and it will lead to over 51,000 preventable deaths annually.
[2] All of this in order to give billionaires and mega-corporations yet
another huge tax cut.
The voices, buzz (!!), stories, and experiences of moms, parents,
families, and caregivers are needed now more than ever. There’s proof that
the pressure we’ve been putting on Congress is working. In fact, some
Republican Senators have already signaled their concerns with the Medicaid
cuts included in the bill. [ [link removed] ]

Parents need to be able to go to work, raise kids, and contribute to their
communities. But cuts to health care, nutrition, and education will
sting—hurting our families, businesses, and economy alike.
What can you expect at this Morning of Action?
* Join us in bringing the voices, experiences, and stories of moms,
parents, families and caregivers to the Hill.
* 10 am: Buzz on over to the Hill and bee ready for some fun while
swarming the Capitol!
* 10:30 am: We’ll host a short, buzz-worthy media event with
storytellers and U.S. Senators.
* 11:15 am: We’ll buzz around the U.S. Senate buildings to
hand-deliver storybooks to Senate offices.
* Bring your kiddo(s)! We’ll even provide a 🐝free bee🐝 costume for your
child to create a buzz!
* Together, stand alongside U.S. Senate Democrats in opposition to the
Big Bad BEEtrayal Bill and make our voices heard.
* If you can’t stay past 11:15 am to help us deliver storybooks, that’s
ok! We’d still love for you to join us for the event.
Why the bee costumes and theme? Studies show that one of the only ways to
break through partisan mindsets is with humor! So we’re bringing the
buzzing humor directly to the U.S. Capitol with the bee theme and costumes
to help create change. We also need to be remembered – and we know there’s
no way to forget people of all ages creating a colorful buzz.
Together, we will urge our elected leaders to put families over
billionaires by protecting programs that enable parents and kids to thrive
and support their communities, like Medicaid, SNAP, and more.
