Team,

Monday was a historic day for activists who have been organizing for basic equality for LGBTQ+ Americans for decades.

In a stunning 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that a key provision of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, known as Title VII, protects the LGBTQ+ community from workplace discrimination.

While the Supreme Court’s decision is a huge step forward for LGBTQ+ equality and fairness in this country, our fight is not finished. Because of a patchwork of state and local regulations, universal non-discrimination — in housing, education, public spaces, and more — won’t be reached until Congress makes the Equality Act the law of the land.

It’s time to take action. Will you join me by adding your name to our petition in support of the Equality Act?  >> [link removed]

Right now in several states — including Texas — there’s nothing preventing discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity beyond the workplace. That means Americans across the country can and often are evicted from their homes or kicked out of a business just because of who they are and who they love.

We can change that by passing the Equality Act, which will update existing laws to protect LGBTQ+ Americans from discrimination in housing, education, stores, banks, and more. And although the House has already passed this important bill, Mitch McConnell has failed to bring the legislation to the Senate floor for a vote for more than a year.

With your help, we can show how strong the movement behind The Equality Act is and demand Mitch McConnell brings it to the floor following this landmark SCOTUS decision.

We need to update federal law to ensure comprehensive protection for LGBTQ+ Americans from discrimination in public life. Join me in urging the Senate to FINALLY pass the Equality Act now. >> [link removed]

Thank you for joining me in this fight,

Julie
