Donald Trump‘s move toward oligarchy and authoritarianism has created an
unprecedented moment in modern American history. We must respond in an
unprecedented way. Status quo politics is not good enough.

We need to elect candidates all over this country who have the guts not
only to stand up to Trumpism, but to take on the monied interests and
fight for a working class that has been ignored for far too long.

One of those candidates is our friend State Rep. Donavan McKinney, who
just over a month ago announced he was running for Congress in Michigan’s
13th Congressional District.

Donavan is a born-and-raised working class product of Detroit. Before he
was a State Rep., he was a champion and leader for labor rights and
climate justice across Michigan. Serving on Michigan’s first-ever
Environmental Justice Council and as a leader at SEIU Healthcare Michigan,
Donavan understands the obstacles everyday people in his state and across
the country are facing just to be able to drink clean water and earn a
living wage.

In the State House, he has continued that work, leading projects to
replace lead pipes in Michigan, fighting to ensure every child in Michigan
can receive a quality public education, bringing justice to the criminal
legal system, pushing for a robust, quality public transit system, and
securing the rights of unions and workers. He has worked to lower costs
and increase affordability for the people, representing the poorest State
House district in Michigan with a median income of less than $20K.

And Donavan knows that the greatest obstacle to delivering Medicare for
All, a Green New Deal, and a living wage for the people is the
overwhelming influence of big money in politics.

Donavan is running in a Democratic primary for Congress against a wealthy,
self-funding incumbent. If he is going to win he needs our help and that
is why I am asking you to donate to Donavan’s campaign — $27 or whatever
you can afford:

$27 because Donavan will be the kind of progressive voice we need in
Congress if we are going to stand up to Trump, protect our democratic way
of life, and create an economy that works for working families — not just
the rich.

$27 because Donavan will be taking on not just Republicans, not just
corporate interests, but the Democratic establishment as well.

$27 because we are all in this together, and Donavan needs us now if he is
going to win this race.
