I know that’s something that should be celebrated – during Pride Month and every month – but truthfully, celebrating Pride right now feels a little scary.
Because, if I can be completely honest with you, I’m pissed off.
I got started in politics fighting for marriage equality, standing up to the anti-LGBTQ+ hate group Westboro Baptist Church, and passing anti-discrimination legislation.
That was 20 years ago. And now I see all the progress we made being eroded by these bigots.
Across our nation, Donald Trump and his MAGA cronies have introduced and enacted a record-number of laws that target the LGBTQ+ community. They are targeting people in my community. They are demonizing trans people. And they will not stop unless we take bold action.

In 2025 alone, 588 anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been introduced across the country.
So, here’s the honest truth, friend:
If we don’t pass the Equality Act, the Supreme Court might target marriage equality and same-sex adoption just like they did Roe v. Wade.
If we don’t pass the Equality Act, Republicans will keep escalating their anti-LGBTQ+ crusade and roll back hard-won protections.
If we don’t pass the Equality Act, Trump will ramp up his dangerous executive orders – banning trans Americans from the military, gutting civil rights, and more.

Democrats in Congress have reintroduced the Equality Act – this landmark legislation would provide comprehensive protections for LGBTQ+ Americans and put a stop to discriminatory laws nationwide.
