Hi friend,
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, stepdads, and father-figures out there! I know it has been an incredibly difficult week, and the news feels particularly heavy right now. Still, I want to take a moment to recognize Father’s Day, step away from the chaos, and share a very special dad moment I got to experience earlier this week.
Wednesday night, I had the honor of playing in the Congressional Baseball Game – an annual tradition spanning more than 100 years where Democrats and Republicans play against each other while raising money for charity (the game raised over $3 million)!
While it was very cool to play in the game (and even score a run!), the best part was that I was able to bring Theo, Cam, and Rebecca on the field prior during warmups. Moments like this are really special and something I am beyond grateful for (the only thing that would have made it better was if it had been at Yankee Stadium). It was a moment I’ll never forget!
It’s not easy being a dad to two small children while serving in Congress – between the hectic schedule and going back and forth between DC and the Hudson Valley. My family is what keeps me grounded. And in these incredibly difficult times, it’s never been more important to remember WHY we fight for what we believe in: for our kids and their future, and generations after them.
Wishing you and your family well, and that you find time and ways to take advantage of the summer weather with your loved ones.
Yours in service,
Pat
