On Father’s Day, I always find myself thinking about my dad, Roy Brown.
He was a man of quiet strength—a physician who dedicated his life to serving patients in underserved communities. He didn’t talk much about service. He just lived it, every day. And in doing so, he showed me what it means to lead with purpose, to care deeply, and to never stop showing up for others.
My father shaped who I am. He instilled in me a belief that service is a calling, not a career. It’s what guided me into the military, public service, and this role as Maryland’s Attorney General.
Years after his passing, his example continues to ground me. His legacy lives on in the work I do, in the way I try to lead, and in the lessons I’ve passed on to my children.
To every father, stepfather, grandfather, and father figure who gives of himself, who leads with patience, strength, and love, thank you. And to those who are remembering a father who is no longer here, I hope today brings peace, pride, and a sense of connection that time can never erase.
Wishing you and your loved ones a happy Father’s Day.
With gratitude,
Anthony Brown
